Partners & Mucciaccia Gallery is pleased to announce an exhibition of the great italian artist Agostino Bonalumi (Vimercate, Milan, 1935): \u201cThe Glass of the Shadows\u201d. Form and Image in Agostino Bonalumi<\/em> (title from a poem by the artist). Bonalumi has been a leading figure in the post-World War II Italian avant-garde. Featuring a overview of work from the artist’s five-decade career (with the collaboration of Archivio Agostino Bonalumi in Milan, Italy) this exhibition will be his first solo show in Asian Continent. With Enrico Castellani and Piero Manzoni, and supported by such figures as Lucio Fontana and Gillo Dorfles, Bonalumi became the life and soul of Milan\u2019s cultural and artistic scene during the Sixties. He\u2019s celebrated for its \u201cestroflessioni\u201d \u2013 <\/em>shaped and \u201ceverted\u201d canvases dating back to 1959-60, that mark his artistic maturity: the canvas surface is modelled by a wooden support structure, and the reliefs that can be obtained on monochrome fields (white, blue, red, black, grey) create abstract perceptual patterns. This amazing artist has always remained faithful to a synthesis between rational rigour and powerful sensory impact. From Sixties to the present, in western cultural background, Bonalumi stands out as one of the leading exponents of a \u201chard\u201d conception of art as a tactile experience half-way between painting and sculpture.<\/p>\n

The exhibition catalogue is printed in Italy by Carlo Cambie Editore (Siena).<\/p>\n

He\u2019s celebrated for its \u201cestroflessioni\u201d \u2013 <\/em>shaped and \u201ceverted\u201d canvases dating back to 1959-60, that mark his artistic maturity: the canvas surface is modelled by a wooden support structure, and the reliefs that can be obtained on monochrome fields (white, blue, red, black, grey) create abstract perceptual patterns. This amazing artist has always remained faithful to a synthesis between rational rigour and powerful sensory impact. From Sixties to the present, in western cultural background, Bonalumi stands out as one of the leading exponents of a \u201chard\u201d conception of art as a tactile experience half-way between painting and sculpture.<\/p>\r\n
