La Galleria Mucciaccia presenta \u201cAllegory of Caritas (An Act of Love)\u201d, una mostra composta da nuove sculture in corallo rosso e inediti disegni di sangue di Jan Fabre, dal 6 ottobre al 15 dicembre 2022.<\/p>\n

Il progetto espositivo, a cura di Melania Rossi, vede la partecipazione anche della sede londinese della galleria, che dal 13 ottobre presenta una selezione di lavori appartenenti alla stessa serie.<\/p>\n

Il corpus di sculture in corallo rosso del Mediterraneo, concrezioni rosso fuoco che sembrano emerse direttamente dagli abissi della mente dell\u2019artista, \u00e8 un incontro poetico tra materia naturale e visionariet\u00e0 artistica.<\/p>\n

In mostra, teschi da vanitas, cuori anatomici, croci e oggetti liturgici ma anche lo Yin-Yang e il nodo d\u2019amore celtico, simboli legati alla solidariet\u00e0 e oggetti che ricordano credenze popolari o vicende personali dell\u2019artista.<\/p>\n

L\u2019aspetto di carne viva unisce le sculture ai disegni realizzati dall\u2019artista fiammingo con il suo stesso sangue, in cui l\u2019artista racconta gli albori dell\u2019esistenza umana attraverso le ecografie del figlio Django.<\/p>\n

La dolcezza di un sentimento intimo e personale diventa invito ad una riflessione sulla vulnerabilit\u00e0 e le necessit\u00e0 umane.<\/p>\n

Un antico legame unisce il sangue al corallo, di cui Ovidio nelle \u201cMetamorfosi\u201d racconta la nascita mitica dal sangue di Medusa. Anche nella forma del ramo corallino \u00e8 facile rintracciare una somiglianza con il reticolo dei vasi sanguigni.<\/p>\n

Nelle opere di Fabre, la lunga tradizione simbolica del corallo si unisce al concetto di \u201ccaritas\u201d, dal latino carus: diletto, amato. Un concetto presente in tutte le culture, religioni e filosofie da est a ovest del mondo.<\/p>\n

L\u2019arte \u00e8 il mezzo privilegiato per raffigurare la vita, la sua origine e il suo mistero, gli opposti e le armonie. In questa allegoria di Fabre, le tante storie e leggende del corallium rubrum si intrecciano nello spazio sconfinato dell\u2019immaginazione dell\u2019artista, dando vita ad opere vibranti che, come la materia naturale di cui sono fatte, appartengono al tempo eterno dell\u2019arte e della bellezza.<\/p>\n

L\u2019aspetto di carne viva unisce le sculture di corallo ai disegni di sangue, da cui emerge la dolcezza di un sentimento intimo e personale. L\u2019artista racconta gli albori dell\u2019esistenza attraverso le ecografie del figlio nascituro, invitando ad una riflessione sulle vulnerabilit\u00e0 e le necessit\u00e0 umane.<\/p>\n

L\u2019esperienza privata si fa universale nelle opere del maestro Fabre, che ci inducono a osservare le cose del mondo come aggregazioni di significati che risuonano tra loro, di storie che si tramandano e si fondono nel corso del tempo.<\/p>\n

La tensione presente nei suoi lavori e lo stupore che suscitano sono sempre infusi di una spiritualit\u00e0 che armonizza i contrasti.<\/p>\n

Come dice l\u2019artista: \u201cL\u2019arte \u00e8 come l\u2019amore, porta sempre ad una riconciliazione\u201d.<\/p>\n

La mostra \u00e8 corredata da catalogo edito da Silvana Editoriale con testi di Melania Rossi, Dimitri Ozerkov, Barbara De Coninck e Sara Liuzzi.<\/p>\n

Born in 1957 in Greensboro, North Carolina. Lives and works in New York.
\nHolliday began as a student at the San Francisco Art Institute and later went on to perfect his techniques at The New York Studio School and The School of Visual Arts in New York. A Painter and performance artist connected to the Neo Abstract and Neo Expressionist Movement, Holliday reaches fame in New York during the 1970s and 1980s, is often associated with the East Village art scene and the Club 57.
\nIn the early years of his career as an artist, he worked closely with Andy Warhol, Keith Haring, Ann Magnuson and Kenny Scharf.
\nFrank Holliday has exhibited with the Kenny Schacter and Tony Shafrazi Galleries and has solo exhibitions at Debs & Co., Tom Cugliani Gallery, The Kitchen, GAL Gallery, and Mucciaccia Gallery Singapore.
\nHe participates in numerous group exhibitions at prestigious New York spaces such as The Arts Club, Derek Eller, White Columns, Sandra Gering Gallery, Amy Lipton Gallery, Elizabeth Dee, Barbara Toll Fine Art, Lennon Weinberg, PS1, and the Club 57 with Keith Haring.
\nHis work receives critical acclaim and is the subject of reviews written by Holland Cotter and Stephen Westfall in Art in America, Gluek Grace and Ken Johnson for The New York Times, and Bill Arning for the Village Voice.
\nHolliday is included in the Heiner Friedrich collection as well as numerous important private collections worldwide in the United States, Europe, Japan, Australia and Mexico.
\nHis works are also found in prestigious museum collections such as Moma New York; The Weatherspoon Museum at The University of North Carolina at Greensboro; The Museum Frederick Russe of Stockholm; the Miniature Museum of Amsterdam.
\nHe is awarded the National Endowment for the Arts in 1986, the Gottlieb Foundation Fellowship in 2010, the Pollock Krasner Foundation Fellowship in 2010 and the John Simon Guggenheim Memorial Foundation in 2015.
\nHis most recent exhibitions include\u00a0Frank Holliday<\/em>, Museo Bilotti, Vila Borghese, Rome, Italy (2019) and\u00a0Club 57: Film, Performance, and Art in the East Village, 1978\u20131983<\/em>, MoMa in New York (2017-2018).<\/p>\n
