LA II \u00e8 nato a Porto Rico nel 1967. Vive e lavora a New York, USA.<\/p>\n

Angel Ortiz (1967), conosciuto anche come LA II, LA2 e LA ROC , \u00e8 un artista autodidatta del Lower East Side, il luogo di nascita della street art newyorkese. All\u2019et\u00e0 di dieci anni, il suo tag \u201cLA II\u201d, abbreviazione di \u201cLittle Angel\u201d, aveva fatto la sua comparsa nelle strade e, tre anni dopo, Ortiz venne cercato da un giovane studente d\u2019arte della School of Visual Arts, Keith Haring.<\/p>\n

Una miscela di simboli contemporanei geometrici e astratti, con influenze attribuite ai geroglifici e alla calligrafia, lo stile caratteristico di Ortiz, infatti, \u00e8 spesso una ripetizione del suo tag di strada LAII\/LA2, riprodotto in un disegno denso, quasi sovrapposto e definito come \u201cHigh and Tight\u201d, che viene poi intrecciato a motivi geometrici e personaggi animati. Ortiz ha completato i disegni di Haring riempiendone \u201cgli spazi vuoti\u201d. Haring e Ortiz unirono i propri stili per creare una superficie complessiva di linee e disegni che \u00e8 oggi riconosciuta in tutto il mondo.<\/p>\n

Nel 1982, Ortiz e Haring collaborarono a dozzine di lavori per la loro prima mostra insieme alla Tony Shafrazi Gallery di New York. Dopo aver abbandonato il liceo nel 1983, Ortiz inizi\u00f2 quindi a viaggiare in tutto il mondo collaborando con Keith Haring. Per pi\u00f9 di sei anni, i loro progetti li portarono intorno al globo per partecipare a numerose installazioni in gallerie, sfilate di moda e mostre museali. E\u2019 ampiamente risaputo che lo stile e la tecnica di Ortiz hanno influenzato le composizioni di Haring anche dopo la fine del loro sodalizio creativo. Riguardo il suo legame con Haring, Ortiz ha affermato: \u201cIl mio rapporto con Keith \u00e8 sempre stato, prima di tutto, un rapporto di amicizia, mentre l\u2019aspetto artistico era e sar\u00e0 sempre secondario. Keith ha cercato la mia guida su come mettere in risalto le sue figure isolate e far s\u00ec che, con un ambiente pi\u00f9 complesso, prendessero vita visivamente. Le collaborazioni artistiche sono state magiche e non saranno mai duplicate\u201d.<\/p>\n

Ortiz ha lavorato con molti altri artisti del mercato dell\u2019arte odierno, incluso Richard Hamilton, Kenny Scharf e un numero di artisti di strada del suo quartiere d\u2019origine nel Lower East Side, come Delta 2, Ero e Cindy Shaoul.<\/p>\n

After\u00a0her studies at the Accademia delle Belle Arti in Florence, she moves to Rome in 1946. Together with her future husband, Antonio Sanfilippo, they found Forma 1 in 1947, with also Turcato, Attardi, Perilli, Dorazio and Guerrini. The Group considers the geometric lines\u00a0as pure form toward abstraction and formalism, rejecting any link of continuity with the Italian painting of the last twenty years. After\u00a0the group Forma 1 breaks-up in 1951, Accardi continues her abstract, but concrete, research until 1952 and from 1954 she starts painting in black and white \u2013 the Negativi<\/i>. In\u00a01961, she reintroduces colours in her compositions, obtaining also optical effects. Accardi joins the Continuit\u00e0 Group, and prepares solo exhibitions\u00a0in\u00a0New York and\u00a0London. In\u00a0the 1970s,\u00a0she works with glazes on terracotta tiles and paints repeated geometric patterns on sicofoil,\u00a0transparent plastic instead of canvas. Using large sheets, she completes a series of works that investigate the relationship with the environment: Tenda<\/i> and Tripla tenda <\/i>for Galleria Editalia of Rome and for Venice Biennale 1976, Ambiente\/Arte Section. She participates at Venice Biennale in 1948, 1964, 1976, 1978, 1993 and in 1988 she is given a personal room. In the 1980s, Accardi returns to two-dimensional with the sequences of the Parentesi<\/i> and Capricci<\/i>. She exhibits in solo and group exhibitions abroad.\u00a0In 1996, Accardi is\u00a0named Accademico di Brera in Milan and in 1997 she receives the Cavaliere di Gran Croce.<\/p>\r\n\u00a0\r\n\r\n<\/div>\r\n\u00a0\r\n
