Dopo essersi laureata presso la Cornell University nel 2002 in Pittura e Studi Americani, ha proseguito i suoi studi in pittura presso la Hunter College di New York City, ottenendo nel 2006 un Master in pittura.<\/p>\n

\n

I dipinti di Chastain-Chapman raffigurano mondi fratturati che alla fine rispecchiano la nostra realt\u00e0 contemporanea. Nelle sue opere sono costanti le figure femminili che si trovano a vivere situazioni precarie, costrette a trovare delle soluzioni di vita alternativa per sopravvivere. Il suo linguaggio artistico \u00e8 frutto dell\u2019unione di un\u2019ampia variet\u00e0 di stili che fanno emergere il suo approccio surreale nel creare immagini. Chastain-Chapman indaga temi come l’addomesticamento, l’artificio, la costruzione, il consumo eccessivo, la bellezza, il cambiamento climatico e il fallimento inerente allo sforzo umano. Nelle sue opere \u00e8 dominante la percezione del senso di tragedia, che si alterna a momenti di ironia e ad attimi rappresentativi della commedia, sino al sentimento insito nel desiderio di trionfare.<\/p>\n

Oltre alla tradizionale tecnica acrilica, Chastain-Chapman utilizza il glitter. I brillantini donano alle opere una lucentezza che non pu\u00f2 essere ottenuta con la sola classica tecnica pittorica, e le sue associazioni culturali si riferiscono ai temi della femminilit\u00e0, dell’artificio e della bellezza.<\/p>\n

Chastain-Chapman \u00e8 rappresentata dal 2004 dalla Kravets|Wehby Gallery di New York City. Le sue opere sono state esposte in mostre personali, bi-personali e collettive a New York City, Los Angeles, Londra e Parigi, e sono presenti in numerose collezioni private. Tra i momenti importanti della sua carriera artistica sono da ricordare la mostra personale nel 2012 al Nassau County Museum di Roslyn, NY, la partecipazione alla mostra The Incomplete al Chelsea Art Museum nel 2007, e la pubblicazione di un suo profilo nel 2008 su Art World Magazine.<\/p>\n

After\u00a0her studies at the Accademia delle Belle Arti in Florence, she moves to Rome in 1946. Together with her future husband, Antonio Sanfilippo, they found Forma 1 in 1947, with also Turcato, Attardi, Perilli, Dorazio and Guerrini. The Group considers the geometric lines\u00a0as pure form toward abstraction and formalism, rejecting any link of continuity with the Italian painting of the last twenty years. After\u00a0the group Forma 1 breaks-up in 1951, Accardi continues her abstract, but concrete, research until 1952 and from 1954 she starts painting in black and white \u2013 the Negativi<\/i>. In\u00a01961, she reintroduces colours in her compositions, obtaining also optical effects. Accardi joins the Continuit\u00e0 Group, and prepares solo exhibitions\u00a0in\u00a0New York and\u00a0London. In\u00a0the 1970s,\u00a0she works with glazes on terracotta tiles and paints repeated geometric patterns on sicofoil,\u00a0transparent plastic instead of canvas. Using large sheets, she completes a series of works that investigate the relationship with the environment: Tenda<\/i> and Tripla tenda <\/i>for Galleria Editalia of Rome and for Venice Biennale 1976, Ambiente\/Arte Section. She participates at Venice Biennale in 1948, 1964, 1976, 1978, 1993 and in 1988 she is given a personal room. In the 1980s, Accardi returns to two-dimensional with the sequences of the Parentesi<\/i> and Capricci<\/i>. She exhibits in solo and group exhibitions abroad.\u00a0In 1996, Accardi is\u00a0named Accademico di Brera in Milan and in 1997 she receives the Cavaliere di Gran Croce.<\/p>\r\n\u00a0\r\n\r\n<\/div>\r\n\u00a0\r\n
