In occasione dell\u2019inaugurazione della nuova location espositiva in Via di Monte Brianzo 86 a Roma, Mucciaccia Contemporary \u00e8 orgogliosa di presentare gli artisti americani, Nick Atkins, Sydney Chastain-Chapman, Keegan McHargue e Andy Rementer, selezionati personalmente da Giulia Abate, Artistic Director della galleria.<\/p>\n

\n

La ricerca dei quattro artisti \u00e8 accomunata da una pratica realistica o semi-realistica verso la pittura. Il loro linguaggio pittorico recupera e rielabora la cultura visiva contemporanea, ridefinendo i generi tradizionali della storia dell’arte, come il ritratto, il paesaggio, la natura morta, prendendo in prestito temi e categorie da altri campi linguistici che spaziano dal Pop Surrealism alla Street Art, dall’animazione digitale alla fantascienza, al sogno e al subconscio.<\/p>\n

In mostra sono esposti venti dipinti che hanno l\u2019obbiettivo di ricostruire un percorso empatico, tra allusioni e significati sottointesi, satira e critica sociale ed invitano il visitatore a perdersi nelle trame e nei dettagli di quella contemporaneit\u00e0 che, in un mondo globalizzato, \u00e8 anche la propria. Da qui il titolo della mostra NOW YOU SEE YOU.<\/p>\n

L’artista multidisciplinare Nick Atkins (nato il 1982, Boston, MA), al fine di esprimere le sue lotte personali e la sua passione per la vita crea dipinti simili a cartoni animati. Atkins utilizza i suoi fantastici soggetti mitologici per affrontare l’abuso della societ\u00e0 sulla terra ed ispirare l’azione. Oltre all\u2019opera su tela, Nick lavora anche con video e design commerciale.<\/p>\n

\n

Sydney Chastain-Chapman (nata nel 1979, Northfield, MA) indaga su temi come la femminilit\u00e0, la domesticit\u00e0, l’impatto umano sull’ambiente e le reazioni psicologiche alla realt\u00e0 moderna. Usando tonalit\u00e0 vibranti, i suoi dipinti ricordano situazioni oniriche di mondi fratturati in ambienti fantastici, attimi di vita domestica situati in luoghi impossibili ed esplora i modi in cui le persone si connettono e si disconnettono a vicenda.<\/p>\n

Keegan McHargue (nato nel 1982 a Portland, Oregon) \u00e8 un artista americano noto per i suoi dipinti e disegni astratti ed illusori. I suoi intensi dipinti illustrati combinano elementi onirici e figurativi, mentre stravolgono le regole della prospettiva. Il suo stile \u00e8 caratterizzato da un appiattimento figurativo che evoca i disegni dei bambini, ma che altro no \u00e8, un suo modo di esprimere la sua comprensione del mondo.<\/p>\n

Andy Rementer (nato nel 1981, Atlantic City, NJ) \u00e8 fortemente ispirato dai riferimenti tratti dalla storia dell’arte, da Giotto a L\u00e9ger. Le sue composizioni colorate sembrano reali e surreali allo stesso tempo. Le opere di Andy sono chiaramente caratterizzate da un senso di equilibrio, da colorazioni limitate e da un linearismo grafico. I suoi soggetti prettamente figurativi, quasi da cartone animato, sono in contrasto con un senso di ambivalenza e isolamento. L’artista gioca con schemi dai colori brillanti per rappresentare le relazioni interpersonali, che emergono all’interno di un universo vibrante e spesso introspettivo.<\/p>\n

La mostra NOW YOU SEE YOU aprir\u00e0 al pubblico gioved\u00ec 20 maggio 2021 e durer\u00e0 fino al 31 luglio 2021, sar\u00e0 accompagnata da un catalogo edito da Mucciaccia Contemporary Edizioni con un testo critico di Cesare Biasini Selvaggi.<\/p>\n
