global_colors_info=&#8221;{}&#8221; sticky_enabled=&#8221;0&#8243;]<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Mucciaccia Contemporary presenta il secondo capitolo di un progetto espositivo a lungo termine inaugurato nel 2019 che, attraverso bi-personali di cadenza annuale, vuole raccontare quegli artisti internazionali e di diverse generazioni accomunati dalla ricerca di una nuova visione del mondo attuale, che il celebre collezionista Hubert Neumann raggruppa sotto la sigla di <em>Aftermodernism<\/em><em>.<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">In questo secondo capitolo gli artisti\u00a0Benjamin Edwards (Iowa City, IA, USA, 1970) e\u00a0Tom Sanford\u00a0(Bronxville, NY, USA,1975) presentano una ventina opere create per la mostra, le quali ci restituiscono la loro visione della societ\u00e0 e delle citt\u00e0 contemporanee riflettendo la visione di Hubert Neumann che, come spiega il curatore\u00a0Cesare Biasini Selvaggi, \u201c<em>crede che la migliore arte prodotta oggi rifletta la cacofonia, l\u2019asimmetria e l\u2019indeterminatezza della nostra societ\u00e0<\/em>\u201d.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Neumann racconta degli artisti: \u201c<em>Ho comprato le prime opere di Tom Sanford l\u20198\/02\/2004, e quelle di Ben Edwards il 10\/12\/1999, a cinque anni di distanza. Ho conosciuto i loro lavori in diverse gallerie che ora non esistono pi\u00f9. Ho sviluppato un rapporto personale con entrambi, ed \u00e8 ancora cos\u00ec 20 anni dopo. Il nostro dialogo \u00e8 rimasto costante nel tempo. [\u2026] Entrambi stanno esplorando il realismo, ma in maniera molto diversa. Entrambi hanno inventato nuovi spazi aftermodernisti, e hanno mantenuto uno sviluppo continuo, anche se irregolare e imprevedibile<\/em>\u201d.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Hubert Neumann collezionista onnivoro oggi quasi novantenne ma con il piglio di un sessantenne, eredita questa passione dal padre che gi\u00e0 nei primi del Novecento frequentava a Parigi giovani artisti ancora sconosciuti a quel tempo, come Picasso, Dubuffet, Mir\u00f3, Giacometti, Gris, Braque, L\u00e9ger. Proprio assieme a lui inizia ad acquistare le prime opere nella New York degli anni \u201950, attratto da artisti non ancora compresi e quotati come Franz Kline o Alberto Giacometti.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Oggi vanta una collezione di oltre 2.600 opere, tra cui capolavori del Cubismo, Astrattismo europeo, Scultura d\u2019avanguardia, Espressionismo Astratto americano, Pop art e Graffitismo, di alcuni dei pi\u00f9 importanti artisti del XX secolo, e artisti come Picasso, L\u00e9ger, Mir\u00f3, Kandinsky, Kline, Giacometti, Dubuffet, Rauschenberg, Lichtenstein, Haring, Basquiat, solo per citarne alcuni.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Nella sua casa-museo nell\u2019Upper East Side di New York sfilano e si giustappongo senza soluzione di continuit\u00e0 questi maestri del Novecento a dipinti e sculture di artisti contemporanei come Jeff Koons, Ashley Bickerton, Meyer Vaisman, Haim Steinbach e John Armlede, figurano anche le opere di Haluke Akak\u00e7e, Kristin Baker, Vanessa Beecroft, Michael Bevilacqua, James Busby, Sydney Chastain-Chapman, Nigel Cooke, Devon Costello, Justin Craun, Benjamin Edwards, Jeff Elrod, Manuel Esnoz, Wendell Gladstone, Ridley Howard, Chris Johanson, Karen Kilimnik, Matthew McCaslin, JP Munro, Eric Parker, Charlie Roberts, Matthew Ronay, Justin Samson, Tom Sanford, Christian Schumann, John Simon, Aya Uekawa, Xavier Veilhan e Kelli Williams.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Proprio nei lavori di Koons, che inizia a collezionare dai primi anni Ottanta, Neumann coglie e riscontra per la prima volta quel senso di\u00a0<em>opera aperta<\/em>\u00a0e\u00a0<em>non-modernista<\/em>\u00a0e si rende conto che sta avvenendo un mutamento nell\u2019arte dopo Basquiat e Haring, una rottura con l\u2019estetica modernista che si pu\u00f2 riscontrare anche nella filosofia e negli altri linguaggi artistici.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201c<em>Approfondendo sempre di pi\u00f9 altri aspetti della filosofia, della matematica e della scienza del suo tempo, gli appare chiaro quanto la rottura da lui avvertita sia pi\u00f9 profonda e con risvolti molto pi\u00f9 dirompenti e ampi di quanto inizialmente avesse supposto<\/em>\u201d &#8211; afferma Cesare Biasini Selvaggi &#8211; \u201c<em>Ed \u00e8 in questa fase, a mio avviso, che l\u2019inclinazione curatoriale di Neumann si manifesta e si accompagna a quel suo proverbiale intuito nella scelta degli artisti contemporanei da collezionare ritenuti di rottura con l\u2019estetica modernista<\/em>\u201d.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Tra l\u2019ottobre 2007 e il gennaio 2008 va in scena al Chelsea Art Museum a New York una mostra collettiva co-curata da Neumann dal titolo\u00a0<em>The Incomplete<\/em>, progetto espositivo che arriva anche a Parigi nel 2010 alla galleria di Jean-Luc e Takako Richard. Questo titolo\u00a0<em>The Incomplete\u00a0<\/em>(\u201cUna storia incompleta\u201d) non convince del tutto Neumann, inizia quindi ad usare il termine\u00a0<em>Aftermodernism\u00a0<\/em>che debutta ufficialmente nell\u2019estate del 2013, in occasione della prima, di una trilogia di mostre ospitate al Nassau County Museum of Art a Roslyn Harbor nello stato di New York.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201c<em>\u00c8 sempre stato questo intuito innato nel comprendere in quale direzione lo Zeitgeist, cio\u00e8 lo spirito dei tempi soffiasse, a guidare gli acquisti suoi e del padre in passato<\/em>\u201d &#8211; continua Biasini Selvaggi &#8211; \u201c<em>Ed \u00e8 lo stesso a cui Hubert Neumann si \u00e8 affidato anche negli ultimi trent\u2019anni, nella scelta degli artisti contemporanei da collezionare. Attraverso una lettura delle opere degli artisti Benjamin Edwards e Tom Sanford contestualizzata al perido di transizione che l&#8217;America vive oggi.<\/p>\n<p>Con Giulia Abate e Cesare Biasini Selvaggi<\/p>\n<p>Regia di Giuliana Gamba, montaggio di Roberto Mazzarelli<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Gli artisti in mostra ci restituiscono proprio questo spirito del tempo.\u00a0La ricerca di\u00a0Ben Edwards\u00a0\u00e8 una indagine costante della dinamica che si crea tra progresso e natura, cercando di comprendere l\u2019equilibrio e le leggi. Da qui prendono forma le sue citt\u00e0 immaginarie dove la figura umana ha un ruolo marginale ed \u00e8 relegata ad una teoria di ritratti dall\u2019identit\u00e0 confusa. Attraverso la sua poetica Edwards vuole esprimere il proprio concetto di Utopia, ossia di \u201c<em>un\u2019opera che\u00a0<\/em><em>ha una vita a s\u00e9 e sopravvive all\u2019artista nel senso che trascende non solo il tempo e la vita \ufb01sica dell\u2019artista, ma anche concettualmente dal momento che viene sottoposta a una costante rinascita attraverso ciascuna nuova interpretazione<\/em>\u201d, come spiega Biasini Selvaggi in catalogo.<\/p>\n<p>I dipinti di\u00a0Tom Sanford\u00a0nascono invece da influenze molto eterogenee che partono dal Rinascimento, passando per l\u2019Ottocento, il Surrealismo e la Pop Art fino ad arrivare alla pubblicit\u00e0 e ai fumetti dei giorni nostri. Le sue opere spaziano tra nature morte e dipinti di genere: \u201c<em>Le sue \ufb01gure umane passano in rassegna un\u2019umanit\u00e0 varia, con i cattivi e le vittime, le tragedie e i trion\ufb01 del momento. Nelle sue nature morte \u00e8 pi\u00f9 interessato all\u2019immagine che all\u2019oggetto raffigurato<\/em>\u201d &#8211; come spiega Biasini Selvaggi &#8211; \u201c<em>E\u2019 l\u2019immagine, pertanto, che prevale sull\u2019oggetto, perch\u00e9 immobile, pressoch\u00e9 sempre uguale a se stessa, priva di sentimenti, forma astratta\u201d<\/em>. Sanford mescola registro alto e basso, usando uno stile pittorico essenzialmente postmoderno, mutuando dalla storia dell\u2019arte reinterpretata secondo i codici contemporanei.<\/p>\n<p>Attraverso le opere di Edwards e Sanford la mostra vuole far conoscere una delle figure pi\u00f9 singolari ed eclettiche del panorama dell\u2019arte contemporanea mondiale, quale \u00e8 Hubert Neumann, portando per la prima volta in Italia l\u2019<em>Aftermodernism.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Il catalogo in mostra, a cura di Cesare Biasini Selvaggi ed edito per i tipi di Carlo Cambi editore, \u00e8 il secondo di una serie dedicata agli artisti dell\u2019<em>Aftermodernism<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>Benjamin Edwards\u00a0\u00e8 nato a Iowa City, Iowa nel 1970, e vive e lavora a Washington D.C. Ha esposto negli Stati Uniti, in Europa e in Asia. Il suo lavoro fa parte di collezioni museali come il Carnegie Museum of Art, Pittsburgh, PA e il Museum of Modern Art, New York, NY.<\/p>\n<p>Tom Sanford\u00a0\u00e8 nato a Bronxville NY nel 1975 e in seguito ha conseguito un BA alla Columbia University, quindi un MFA all&#8217;Hunter College.
