The exhibition will run from 9th March to 12th May 2018.<\/p>\n Following the great success of Piero Pizzi Cannella\u2019s solo exhibition at the State Hermitage Museum of Saint Petersburg,\u00a0Salon de musique and Other Paintings,\u00a0<\/em>Partners & Mucciaccia is proud to present twenty-one new works, fourteen paintings on canvas and seven mix-media works on paper, by the Master conceived specifically for the gallery in London.<\/p>\n Pizzi Cannella\u2019s\u00a0Storyboards Interni & Vedute\u00a0<\/em>or \u201cinteriors and landscapes\u201d evokes the poetry of daily-life, and how this lives on within us. From maps and landscapes to dresses, tables and chairs, these recurring and familiar images appear to the viewer like reveries or fond memories. The artist hardly offers any hint of when or where something is set.<\/p>\n Seemingly suspended, the object of his attention invariably occupies the center of the canvas or paper. As if hovering in mid-air, painted in black or sometimes white, the main focus stands boldly at the fore much like a Zen circle would. However, his symbols are set against a cloudy atmosphere created by his ethereal earth-toned backgrounds. The total effect is timeless, and gives his work a delicate dream-like clarity, at once both unique and universal.<\/p>\n \u201cOne always starts with a drawing \u2026 At times it is not there, yet all us painters we carry it\u00a0<\/em>within us. \nHolliday began as a student at the San Francisco Art Institute and later went on to perfect his techniques at The New York Studio School and The School of Visual Arts in New York. A Painter and performance artist connected to the Neo Abstract and Neo Expressionist Movement, Holliday reaches fame in New York during the 1970s and 1980s, is often associated with the East Village art scene and the Club 57.
\nIn the early years of his career as an artist, he worked closely with Andy Warhol, Keith Haring, Ann Magnuson and Kenny Scharf.
\nFrank Holliday has exhibited with the Kenny Schacter and Tony Shafrazi Galleries and has solo exhibitions at Debs & Co., Tom Cugliani Gallery, The Kitchen, GAL Gallery, and Mucciaccia Gallery Singapore.
\nHe participates in numerous group exhibitions at prestigious New York spaces such as The Arts Club, Derek Eller, White Columns, Sandra Gering Gallery, Amy Lipton Gallery, Elizabeth Dee, Barbara Toll Fine Art, Lennon Weinberg, PS1, and the Club 57 with Keith Haring.
\nHis work receives critical acclaim and is the subject of reviews written by Holland Cotter and Stephen Westfall in Art in America, Gluek Grace and Ken Johnson for The New York Times, and Bill Arning for the Village Voice.
\nHolliday is included in the Heiner Friedrich collection as well as numerous important private collections worldwide in the United States, Europe, Japan, Australia and Mexico.
\nHis works are also found in prestigious museum collections such as Moma New York; The Weatherspoon Museum at The University of North Carolina at Greensboro; The Museum Frederick Russe of Stockholm; the Miniature Museum of Amsterdam.
\nHe is awarded the National Endowment for the Arts in 1986, the Gottlieb Foundation Fellowship in 2010, the Pollock Krasner Foundation Fellowship in 2010 and the John Simon Guggenheim Memorial Foundation in 2015.
