Dopo gli studi all’Accademia delle Belle Arti di Firenze, si trasferisce a Roma nel 1946. Nel 1947, insiem al suo futuro marito, Sanfilippo e a Turcato, Attardi, Perilli, Dorazio, Guerrini, Maugeri fonda il Gruppo astrattista Forma Uno. La corrente artistica che considera il segno \u00a0come forma pura e rifiuta ogni nesso di continuit\u00e0 con la pittura italiana degli ultimi 20 anni, sorpassandola e tornando all\u2019astrattismo e al formalismo .<\/p>\n

Lavora in ambito cubista sulla lezione di Magnelli, quindi in ambito astratto concreto fino al 1952 e dal 1954 in direzione pi\u00f9 marcatamente segnica e con opere in bianco e nero ( i \u201cNegativi\u201d), eseguite a tempera alla caseina.<\/p>\n

Michel Tapi\u00e9 segue il suo percorso artistico invitandola alla rassegna romana alla galleria Spazio ‘Individualit\u00e0 d’oggi’ con Burri, Capogrossi, Fontana, Klein e all’edizione parigina della mostra alla Gal\u00e9rie Rive Droite con Poliakoff, Mathieu, Riopelle, Sam Francis. Dal 1961 reintroduce la gamma dei colori nelle sue composizioni, aggiornandole sulla cultura metropolitana e con effetti optical (aderendo al gruppo Gruppo Continuit\u00e0) <\/u>\u00a0e allestisce personali a New York a Londra. Inventa accese vernici fluorescenti e lavora su supporti plastici anche trasparenti e compie un ciclo di opere investigando i rapporti con l’ambiente: ne presenta gli esiti in ‘Tenda’ e ‘Triplice tenda’. Realizza ‘Rotoli’, grandi ‘Lenzuoli’ con schemi geometrici ripetuti. Il segno conquistava lo spazio.<\/p>\n

Dagli anni \u201970 una inesausta sperimentazione di materiali, come gli smalti su formelle di terracotta, continua a connotare un lavoro di alto livello internazionale. Realizza installazioni e ritorna con gli anni ’80 alla bidimensione con le sequenze delle ‘Parentesi’ e dei ‘Capricci’.<\/p>\n

Born in 1924 in Trapani, Italy; dies in 2014 in Rome, Italy.<\/p>\r\n

After\u00a0her studies at the Accademia delle Belle Arti in Florence, she moves to Rome in 1946. Together with her future husband, Antonio Sanfilippo, they found Forma 1 in 1947, with also Turcato, Attardi, Perilli, Dorazio and Guerrini. The Group considers the geometric lines\u00a0as pure form toward abstraction and formalism, rejecting any link of continuity with the Italian painting of the last twenty years. After\u00a0the group Forma 1 breaks-up in 1951, Accardi continues her abstract, but concrete, research until 1952 and from 1954 she starts painting in black and white \u2013 the Negativi<\/i>. In\u00a01961, she reintroduces colours in her compositions, obtaining also optical effects. Accardi joins the Continuit\u00e0 Group, and prepares solo exhibitions\u00a0in\u00a0New York and\u00a0London. In\u00a0the 1970s,\u00a0she works with glazes on terracotta tiles and paints repeated geometric patterns on sicofoil,\u00a0transparent plastic instead of canvas. Using large sheets, she completes a series of works that investigate the relationship with the environment: Tenda<\/i> and Tripla tenda <\/i>for Galleria Editalia of Rome and for Venice Biennale 1976, Ambiente\/Arte Section. She participates at Venice Biennale in 1948, 1964, 1976, 1978, 1993 and in 1988 she is given a personal room. In the 1980s, Accardi returns to two-dimensional with the sequences of the Parentesi<\/i> and Capricci<\/i>. She exhibits in solo and group exhibitions abroad.\u00a0In 1996, Accardi is\u00a0named Accademico di Brera in Milan and in 1997 she receives the Cavaliere di Gran Croce.<\/p>\r\n\u00a0\r\n\r\n<\/div>\r\n\u00a0\r\n
