The exhibition includes his two big panels from the series Aristocracy (2014) as well.

The year 2007 can be defined as a turning point in the artistic production of LaChapelle: influenced by his visit to Michelangelo's Sistine Chapel, LaChapelle produces the series The deluge and After the deluge. The reference to Michelangelo's masterpiece is mixed with that of consumer society brands, generating an apocalyptic vision with a finale in which objects, works of art and people appear submerged by water, such as in Cathedral, Statue and Awakened.

The exhibition ends with a series of photographs realised between 1984 and 2009, depicting personalities from the entertainment world and Hollywood stars, including the Hollywood portrait of Faye Dunaway in Day of the Locust (1996).

The exhibition will be accompanied by a complete illustrated exhibition catalogue, published by Carlo Cambi Editore.

David LaChapelle is today one of the most recognised and appreciated artists in the world. Born in Fairfield in 1963, his post-Pop and in some ways surrealist style makes him unique in the world. David LaChapelle is part of numerous important public and private collections worldwide. He has exhibited in various museums, including the Musée D'Orsay in Paris, the Brooklyn Museum in New York, the Museum of Contemporary Art in Taipei, the Tel Aviv Museum of Art in Tel Aviv, the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA) in Los Angeles, The National Portrait Gallery in London, the Fotographfiska Museet in Stockholm and The National Portrait Gallery in Washington DC. David LaChapelle lives and works between Los Angeles and the Hawaiian island of Maui.

INFORMATION:

Exhibition: David LaChapelle
Exhibition curated by LaChapelle Studio and Galleria Mucciaccia
Venue: Mucciaccia Gallery, Singapore
Opening: Thursday, September 26, 2019, at 6 pm
Open to the public: 14 September 2019 – 29 February 2020
Hours: Tue – Fri, 12 – 7, Sat 11 – 7, Sun 11 - 6; closed on Monday and public holiday
Information: T. +65 6694-3777 | info@mucciaccia.com| www.mucciaccia.com

past exhibitions
[157

post-9534","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-singapore
["GET
