Born in 1937 in Tarquinia, Italy. Lives and works in Rome.
In 1967, he attends the Academy of Salzburg and in 1969 he participates to the International Symposium Lindabrunn in Austria. Between 1964 and 1967, he takes part of the Sunflower Group in Rome. From1973, Capotondi works in Pietrasanta where he makes sculptures. He lives in New York between 1984 and 1989, and participates to various collective exhibitions in Italy and abroad. His sculptures are in numerous private and public collections in Austria, Finland, Japan, Italy, Libya, the Netherlands, United States and Switzerland. The most emblematic work is the gigantic PortaRoma in travertine marble (2000), for which he receives the Premio Michelangelo of the City of Carrara. Situated in the service area next to the highway A1, it is formed by two travertine shoulders supporting two great arching monoliths of 35 tons each, held together by the thrust force and the force of gravity. It measures seven meters high and fifteen wide.<\/p>\n
