Born in 1981, in New Jersey, USA. Lives and works in Philadelphia, PA<\/p>\n

Andy Rementer, through his figurative oil paintings, works on paper, and sculptures, depicts anything and everything he sees around him and condenses it into his brightly colorful yet mysterious visual world. His statue-esque characters hold a host of feelings that seem to suspend emotion, while inviting the viewer into various pensive moments. Rementer enjoys observing ordinary life while reducing what he sees using few details and carefully placed essential elements from his imagination.<\/p>\n

Inspired by a range of art history references from Giotto to L\u00e9ger, Rementer\u2019s organized compositions seem both real and surreal at the same time. The subtle gradients of his oil paintings enhance the richness and unease that lies underneath. Interiors and cityscapes are often backdrops for much of Rementer\u2019s colorful scenes as we are left to wonder about the lives and inner thoughts of his subjects.<\/p>\n

Besides exhibiting in the United States, Rementer has participated in numerous shows in Asia and Europe, including South Korea, Japan, England, France and Germany. He has exhibited at Everyday Mooonday Gallery, Seoul (2021), Fondazione Benetton, Treviso (2017), Commune Gallery, Tokyo (2015), Somerset House, London (2014), Centre Pompidou, Paris (2006).<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

After\u00a0her studies at the Accademia delle Belle Arti in Florence, she moves to Rome in 1946. Together with her future husband, Antonio Sanfilippo, they found Forma 1 in 1947, with also Turcato, Attardi, Perilli, Dorazio and Guerrini. The Group considers the geometric lines\u00a0as pure form toward abstraction and formalism, rejecting any link of continuity with the Italian painting of the last twenty years. After\u00a0the group Forma 1 breaks-up in 1951, Accardi continues her abstract, but concrete, research until 1952 and from 1954 she starts painting in black and white \u2013 the Negativi<\/i>. In\u00a01961, she reintroduces colours in her compositions, obtaining also optical effects. Accardi joins the Continuit\u00e0 Group, and prepares solo exhibitions\u00a0in\u00a0New York and\u00a0London. In\u00a0the 1970s,\u00a0she works with glazes on terracotta tiles and paints repeated geometric patterns on sicofoil,\u00a0transparent plastic instead of canvas. Using large sheets, she completes a series of works that investigate the relationship with the environment: Tenda<\/i> and Tripla tenda <\/i>for Galleria Editalia of Rome and for Venice Biennale 1976, Ambiente\/Arte Section. She participates at Venice Biennale in 1948, 1964, 1976, 1978, 1993 and in 1988 she is given a personal room. In the 1980s, Accardi returns to two-dimensional with the sequences of the Parentesi<\/i> and Capricci<\/i>. She exhibits in solo and group exhibitions abroad.\u00a0In 1996, Accardi is\u00a0named Accademico di Brera in Milan and in 1997 she receives the Cavaliere di Gran Croce.<\/p>\r\n\u00a0\r\n\r\n<\/div>\r\n\u00a0\r\n
