PARTNERS & MUCCIACCIA gallery presents MILKY WAY, a journey throughout the sheer beauty of the 20^th century, among artists who defied the passing of time, becoming universal and inimitable. The selection, which comprises over twenty artists belonging to far-away eras and contexts, favours the pioneers, namely those who paved the way for a new way of looking at the world. And these artists are those who we nowadays recognise even by looking at one single work, the so-called “masters”, who set the standards and invent new figurative worlds. The 20^th century represents the solar galaxy of art history, a Milky Way which shook the foundations of the nature of artworks. During this period, avant-garde movements continuously arise: from Futurism onwards, movements and trends follow each other like the nodes of a cosmic galaxy. A myriad of elements sketching a silhouette, in the middle of which the sun stands out – the symbol of painting, which is the fountainhead of all avant-garde movements, as well as the magnetic propulsive force behind all artistic revolutions. VIA LATTEA does not take any notice of categorisation by language, genre and theme. Actually, it comprises different ages and places and the most diverse styles: the harmony of differences triumphs, as the exhibited “tools” harmoniously blend into an orchestra which plays captivating melodies. The selected artists defy any attempt to confine them to a specific movement: indeed, they represent the actual archetype of the category they belong to. Each of them has invented a code which turned into a style, and eventually managed to find its own position in art history.
