Mucciaccia Contemporary gallery is pleased to present the second edition of the exhibition 12 Artists of Tomorrow, curated by Giulia Abate, which will open to the public on Friday 8 April.

On display the works of twelve international artists born after 1981. The artists invited to exhibit, have all been selected from the editorial project “222 Emerging Artists Worth Investing In | 2021” curated by Cesare Biasini Selvaggi. From painting to sculpture, from installation to photography, from ceramics to embroidery, these are the different languages and directions the artists are experimenting with, and that will be revealed in this exhibition project.

“This exhibition project does not have a theme per se, but brings together twelve emerging Italian artists, or however, active in Italy. The artists here are united by their ability to question the existing categories of thought, to constantly interrogate themselves on today’s society, advancing the perceptive and critical vision to a new reading of situations, images, objects, categories, concepts and subjectivity. In a slalom between notions apparently contradictory, incompatible, faded by disinformation, all twelve artists summoned here reveal a search for realities that are, or could be, off-limits, hidden or inaccessible for the most diverse reasons. They propose alternative meanings to what we understand every day as facts, offering different ways of relating and contextualizing them to each other.”

Cesare Biasini Selvaggi
The exhibition is accompanied by a catalog published by Mucciaccia Contemporary Edizioni, with a text by Cesare Biasini Selvaggi. The artists will be attending the opening night.

Alberonero (Lodi, 1991)
His practice finds form in installations that result from the desire to “be a place”, to erase the boundary between the self and the outside and to participate in space in a poetic sense. He rethinks his being as an artist, placing creative action in the background. He presents himself as a listener of time that passes by, of nature as an uninterrupted movement.

Sveva Angeletti (Rieti, 1991)
Sveva Angeletti’s research lays its foundation on the observation and analysis of relationships between individuals. The key themes of her poetics are time and space to the extent that they become the theatre of connections between individuals and in particular between the actors that make up the microworld of the art system.

Nicolò Bruno (Milan, 1989)
A constant feature in Nicolò Bruno’s artistic practice is the creation of photographic archives. This accumulation of images is a point of reference for the conception and subsequent realization of his paintings. Among the differences of these archives, the homoerotic imaginary, reinterpreted according to an intimate and personal dimension, is a constant in his work.

Victor Fotso Nyie (Douala, Cameroon, 1990)
Fotso Nyie explores the condition of the contemporary African man, alienated and suffering because of an unfinished past of enslavement and exploitation. The visual impact is immediate and aims to contrast with the invisibility and contempt to which the black body is too often subjected to  in the Western world.

GeometricBang (Lodi, 1984)
GeometricBang’s research is a constant investigation into the spontaneity of gesture and form. The works are compositions of various elements, from abstract forms to human, animal or plant representations, and try to find a balance within the medium. The use of colour is fundamental, deliberately using only primary colors.

Greg Jager (Praia a Mare, 1982)
Greg Jager has developed a multidisciplinary language through which he interrogates contemporary society. Various materials, techniques and disciplines activate the participatory construction of a new ecosystem through which to explore the boundaries between art, anthropology and psychology. A live performance, in which the public is invited to interact, will be held during the exhibition.

Ieva Pētersone (Jelgava, Latvia, 1984)
There are two aspects of Ieva Pētersone artistic research: the technical experimentation and the figurative verisimilitude of the represented subject. The former has inspired the artist to work with layers, which she addresses using veiled oil colours and incorporating sewing techniques. While the verisimilitude which is decanted into abstraction, is synonymous with a particular comparison she has with the world.

Valeria Secchi (Sassari, 1990)
Valeria Secchi’s research focuses on the possible declinations of the subject-object relationship in the consumer society, with particular attention to social media. Video and photography are the means through which she articulates her projects: digital reproduction and manipulation cooperate in the staging of hyper-characterised situations and characters grappling with the challenges, expectations and fears of our time.

Luca Staccioli (Imperia, 1988)
Luca Staccioli considers his artistic practice as an experimental research, process-oriented which incorporates different media including video, sound, sculpture, embroidery, drawing, collage. He stratifies and combines micro-stories, uprooted memories, everyday objects, in order to re-narrate the models of representation and discover new ecologies.

Daniele Tozzi (Rome, 1981)
Daniele Tozzi’s artistic research derives from the practice of lettering. His most recent production, which focusses on the alternation of abstract and geometric shapes, made up of Paulownia wood boards painted with acrylic paints and strong colors, will be on display. The result is a series of letters composed of shapes, the inverse process of how the calligram itself functions, an overturning in the modus operandi so far expressed by the artist.

Uno (Reggio Calabria, 1981)
Uno’s artistic research includes different techniques, such as the classic Street Art and muralism. Through infinite repetition, he plays with the advertising technique and modifies it. The artist is always experimenting. He incorporates torn paper of the decoupages and stencil-collages he makes, and makes references to the laceration of the individual and his uniqueness, constantly manipulated until lost in the multiplicity of mass society.

Francesco Ideale Vullo (Palermo, 1994)
Nella sua ricerca artistica, Vullo reinterpreta oggetti comuni per raccontare aspetti dell’essere umano e della società̀ moderna. Affascinato dal potere simbolico che gli stessi possono assumere, l’artista, indaga la loro capacità di rievocare sentimenti e scenari affettivi. La ricerca dei materiali gioca un ruolo primario, incontrando la pratica scultorea cui si dedica e distinguendosi per una multiforme varietà̀ formale e tecnica.
